ASCO 2024 | The emerging role of ctDNA as a predicative marker in dMMR/MSI-H colorectal cancer

Michael Brian LaPelusa, MD, University of Texas MD Anderson Cancer Center, Houston, TX, evaluates the role of circulating tumor DNA (ctDNA) as a marker of response to neoadjuvant pembrolizumab in patients with localized dMMR/MSI-H colorectal cancer (CRC) in a Phase II trial (NCT04082572). Results show that ctDNA clearance after immunotherapy predicts pathological complete response (pCR), with patients having undetectable baseline ctDNA or achieving ctDNA clearance demonstrating higher pCR rates. This suggests utility of ctDNA in improving risk stratification and response assessment in this patient population. This interview took place during the 2024 American Society of Clinical Oncology (ASCO) Meeting in Chicago, IL.
