Shloma Koyfman, MD, Cleveland Clinic, Cleveland, OH, shares the findings of a Phase III trial (NCT01893307) comparing intensity-modulated radiation therapy (IMRT) with intensity-modulated proton therapy (IMPT) in patients with oropharyngeal carcinoma (OPC). IMPT demonstrated non-inferiority to IMRT in terms of progression-free survival (PFS) and overall survival (OS). Additionally, IMPT reduced gastrostomy-tube dependence and malnutrition, establishing it as a standard of care for OPC. This interview took place during the 2024 American Society of Clinical Oncology (ASCO) Meeting in Chicago, IL.
