WCLC 2024 | High- versus standard-dose thoracic radiotherapy in limited stage SCLC

Bjørn Henning Grønberg, MD, PhD, Norwegian University of Science and Technology, Trondheim, Norway, gives an overview of a randomised Phase II trial (NCT02041845) comparing high-dose versus standard-dose twice-daily thoracic radiotherapy (TRT) in patients with limited stage small-cell lung cancer (SCLC). Prof. Grønberg comments the ongoing debate around the optimal radiation dose and the lack of consensus on defining the extent of tissue irradiation allowed, and that the observed survival benefit seen in this study was likely due to the higher radiation dose alone. This interview took place at the 2024 World Conference on Lung Cancer (WCLC) in San Diego, CA.
