WCLC 2024 | The impact of COPD and emphysema on mortality risk in lung cancer

Javier Zulueta, MD, Mount Sinai Morningside Hospital, New York, NY, comments on the impact of chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD) and emphysema on chest CT scans for lung cancer. Patients with the aforementioned conditions are approximately three times more likely to develop lung cancer and do overall benefit from screening, where studies have demonstrated a reduction in mortality from lung cancer when screened early. This interview took place at the 2024 World Conference on Lung Cancer (WCLC) in San Diego, CA.
