Jennifer Ligibel, MD, Dana Farber Cancer Institute, Boston, MA, discusses a pre-planned secondary analysis from the BeWEL trial (NCT02750826), which evaluates the effects of a weight loss intervention (WLI) on moderate/vigorous physical activity (MVPA) in patients with breast cancer with a BMI ≥27 kg/m². The WLI involved phone-based health coaching, promoting caloric restriction and 150 minutes of MVPA per week. Results showed a significant increase in physical activity in the WLI group at six months, with more patients achieving 150+ minutes per week compared to the control, positively correlating with greater weight loss. This interview took place at the European Society for Medical Oncology (ESMO) 2024 Congress in Barcelona, Spain.
