ESSO 43 | The potential of AI in imaging for improved breast cancer detection and care

Rosa Di Micco, MD, PhD, San Raffaele Scientific and Research Hospital in Milan, Italy, highlights the potential of artificial intelligence (AI) in imaging to transform breast cancer care. She discusses how AI could eventually predict axillary status, potentially reducing the need for surgery in the axilla. While this application is still in development, AI is already being utilized in screening programs, serving as a first or second reader in mammograms to detect small cancers, showing promise in early-stage breast cancer detection. This interview took place at the ESSO 43 Congress in Antwerp, Belgium.
