SABCS 2023 | Progress in ctDNA research: advancements in early-stage breast cancer detection

Marina N. Sharifi, MD, University of Wisconsin Carbone Cancer Center, Madison, WI, highlights the exciting advancements in circulating tumor DNA (ctDNA) research presented at the San Antonio Breast Cancer Symposium (SABCS) congress in San Antonio, TX. Particularly, she emphasizes the progress made in utilizing ctDNA for minimal residual disease detection in early-stage breast cancer. However, she acknowledges there are still open questions regarding the interpretation of ctDNA tests in this context and how to address positive results.
