Filippo Pietrantonio, MD, Fondazione IRCCS Istituto Nazionale dei Tumori, Milan, Italy, explores the DESTINY-Gastric03 trial (NCT04379596), which evaluated the safety and efficacy of trastuzumab deruxtecan (T-DXd) with chemotherapy and immune checkpoint inhibitors in gastric cancer. Patient selection, particularly those with CPS ≥1, is crucial to maximizing the benefit of immunotherapy. The trial aimed to optimize the safety profile while preserving efficacy, offering insights into how future trials might refine patient selection to enhance therapeutic outcomes. This interview took place at the European Society for Medical Oncology (ESMO) 2024 Congress in Barcelona, Spain.
