Filippo Pietrantonio, MD, Fondazione IRCCS Istituto Nazionale dei Tumori, Milan, Italy, discusses the findings from the first interim analysis of the G-HOPE-001 trial (NCT06238843) evaluating the CLDN18.2-targeted antibody-drug conjugate (ADC) arcotatug tavatecan, in previously treated, advanced gastric or gastroesophageal junction adenocarcinoma (G/GEJA). The trial met its dual primary endpoints of IRRC-assessed progression-free survival and overall survival, and results are internally consistent, with an increase in overall response rate and disease control rate. The safety of arcotatug tavatecan was similar to the chemotherapy arm, and Dr Pietrantonio highlights the need to replicate this data in other regions. This interview took place at the European Society for Medical Oncology (ESMO) 2026 Congress in Madrid, Spain.
