Antonio Di Meglio, MD, PhD, Institut Gustave Roussy, Villejuif, France, gives an overview of a biobehavioral model under development to predict cancer-related fatigue (CRF) among early-stage breast cancer survivors, utilizing systemic inflammation markers. Potential factors include pre-treatment fatigue, younger age, smoking, and symptoms like pain and insomnia. Patients with elevated pre-treatment IL-6 also experienced greater CRF two years post-diagnosis, highlighting an association between IL-6 and unhealthy behaviors. This interview took place at the European Society for Medical Oncology (ESMO) 2024 Congress in Barcelona, Spain.
