BTOG 2025 | Integrating circulating tumor DNA testing into lung cancer care in Ireland
David O’Reilly, MBBCh, BAO, MSc, MRCPI, Beaumont RCSI Cancer Centre, Beaumont Hospital, Dublin, Ireland, discussed the integration of circulating tumor DNA (CTDNA) testing for newly diagnosed lung cancer patients in Ireland, building on findings from The PLAN Study (NCT05542485). This prospective clinical trial, conducted across four cancer centers, demonstrated that liquid biopsy significantly reduced genotyping turnaround times and was more cost-effective than traditional tissue biopsy. Efforts are underway to secure funding and address educational challenges in workflow integration, ensuring a smooth transition into standard care. This interview took place at the BTOG 2025 congress in Belfast, UK.
