VJVirtual | Understanding sarcoma precision medicine: a complex challenge

Robin Jones • 1 May 2025

Robin Jones, The Royal Marsden Hospital, London, UK, comments on the challenges of introducing precision medicine strategies in sarcomas due to their profound heterogeneity. He highlights the importance of dividing sarcomas into molecular groups, such as those with complex karyotypes, specific chromosomal translocations, kinase mutations, simple molecular abnormalities, and gene inactivation, to develop targeted therapies. This approach has led to success in certain types of sarcomas, but poses a challenge in identifying driving mutations in the most common molecular subgroup with complex genetic makeup. This interview was recorded via an online conference call with The Video Journal of Oncology (VJOncology).
