ASCO GI 2026 | OS of immunotherapy vs SOC in microsatellite stable metastatic colorectal cancer

Guglielmo Vetere, MD, The University of Texas MD Anderson Cancer Center, Houston, TX, discusses findings from a propensity score matched analysis which examined immunotherapy efficacy in microsatellite stable (MSS) metastatic colorectal cancer. Using propensity score matching against standard-of-care treatments (trifluorine/tipiracil, regorafenib, fruquintinib), findings showed immunotherapy strategies (single/double checkpoint inhibitors with/without tyrosine kinase inhibitors) only superior in patients without liver metastases. This interview took place at the 2026 American Society of Clinical Oncology Gastrointestinal Cancers Symposium in San Francisco, CA.
