ESMO GI 2026 | Can immune toxicity predict response in dMMR/MSI colorectal cancer?

Annalice Gandini, MD, Université Paris Cité, Paris, France, discusses findings from the exploratory analysis of the AGEO-NEO-MSI study exploring neoadjuvant immunotherapy in mismatch repair deficient/micro-satellite instability-high (dMMR/MSI) colorectal cancer. Immune-related toxicity was found to be associated with high rates of complete response in patients treated with single immune checkpoint inhibitor (ICI) regimes, however as this finding was only exploratory, toxicity should not be used yet as a marker of response. This interview took place at the European Society for Medical Oncology (ESMO) Gastrointestinal Cancer 2026 Congress in Munich, Germany.
