Rocio Garcia-Carbonero, MD, PhD, University Hospital 12 De Octubre, Madrid, Spain, discusses current and emerging systemic therapies for the treatment of neuroendocrine tumors (NETs). Current systemic therapies for NETs include somatostatin analogues, somatostatin-targeting radioligands, angiogenesis inhibitors and mTOR inhibitors, with treatment options differing by primary tumor site. Dr Garcia-Carbonero also explores areas of current research, including optimization of sequencing strategies, new radioligand therapies such as 225Ac-DOTATATE and 212Pb-DOTAMTATE, a new angiogenesis inhibitor and head-to-head trials which aim to directly compare current therapies. This interview took place at the European Society for Medical Oncology (ESMO) Gastrointestinal Cancer 2026 Congress in Munich, Germany.
