ESMO GI 2026 | Is CLDN18.2 a promising target in pancreatic cancer?

Wungki Park, MD, MS, Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center, explores the development of CLDN18.2-targeting therapies in pancreatic cancer, highlighting that bispecific antibodies, CAR T-cell therapies and antibody-drug conjugates are all under investigation. Dr Park touches on CLDN18.2 testing, for which standard immunohistochemistry is recommended for research but not clinical purposes. In addition, Dr Park explores how CLDN18.2 expression in pancreatic cancer is heterogenous and may change due to plasticity, but does represent a promising target. This interview took place at the European Society for Medical Oncology (ESMO) Gastrointestinal Cancer 2026 Congress in Munich, Germany.
