ESMO GI 2026 | Recent developments in embolization-eligible unresectable HCC

Stephen Lam Chan, MD, FRCP, Chinese University of Hong Kong, Hong Kong, China, explores recent developments in embolization-eligible unresectable hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC). Traditionally, these patients would receive transarterial chemoembolization (TACE), however emerging data shows that lenvatinib with PD-1- or CTLA-4-targeted antibodies could improve progression-free survival and response rates, providing another treatment option. This interview took place at the European Society for Medical Oncology (ESMO) Gastrointestinal Cancer 2026 Congress in Munich, Germany.
