Benjamin Schlechter, MD, Dana-Farber Cancer Institute, Boston, MA, describes the study design of the Phase III BATTMAN trial (NCT07152821), which will examine botensilimab plus balstilimab versus best supportive care in hepatic and non-hepatic microsatellite stable metastatic colorectal cancer (MSS mCRC). Patients must have received all available therapies, including 5-fluoruracil, oxaliplatin, irinotecan, monoclonal antibodies and either regorafenib or trifluridine/tipiracil, to understand the efficacy of botensilimab in refractory disease. The drug is also being investigated in rectal cancer, colon cancer, neoadjuvant settings and in combination with chemotherapy. This interview took place at the European Society for Medical Oncology (ESMO) Gastrointestinal Cancer 2026 Congress in Munich, Germany.
