ESMO GI 2026 | How can botensilimab improve outcomes in colorectal cancer?

Benjamin Schlechter, MD, Dana-Farber Cancer Institute, Boston, MA, discusses the potential of botensilimab, an engineered Fc-enhanced CTLA-4 antibody, in treating colorectal cancer, where conventional checkpoint inhibitors have shown limited efficacy. Botensilimab aims to enhance antigen-presenting cell activity and clear regulatory T-cells, improving immune response activation in the dense immune-suppressive environment of colon and rectal cancer. This interview took place at the European Society for Medical Oncology (ESMO) Gastrointestinal Cancer 2026 Congress in Munich, Germany.
