WCLC 2026 | Immune suppression drives neuroendocrine transformation in EGFRm lung cancer

Triparna Sen, PhD, The Ohio State University, Columbus, OH, discusses a study on the multi-omics profiling of EGFR mutant lung adenocarcinoma patients who have transformed to small cell lung cancer, highlighting the significant role of immune microenvironment modeling in this process. The study’s findings reveal a global immune suppression during neuroendocrine transformation, with a specific increase in monocyte-derived macrophages (MOMACs), particularly the SPP1 negative ApoE positive lipid-derived MOMACs, which play a crucial role in this transformation. This interview took place at the IASLC 2026 World Conference on Lung Cancer congress in Seoul, Republic of Korea.
