Miguel Zugman, MD, City of Hope, Duarte, CA, discusses a Phase Ib trial (NCT03829111) of nivolumab and ipilimumab with or without Clostridium butyricum MIYAIRI588 (CBM588) in metastatic renal cell carcinoma (RCC). The addition of CBM588 was associated with improved objective response and disease control rates, as well as longer progression-free and overall survival compared to immunotherapy alone. While findings are limited by small sample size, the results suggest a potential role for CBM588 in enhancing immunotherapy efficacy in this setting. This interview took place during the 2025 American Society of Clinical Oncology (ASCO) Meeting in Chicago, IL.
