ASCO 2023 | Fecal transplant’s expansive role in immunotherapy: beyond colitis treatment

Yinghong Wang, MD, PhD, from The University of Texas MD Anderson Cancer Center, envisions the broader applications of fecal transplantation beyond colitis treatment. If proven safe and effective in larger patient populations, fecal transplant could be used alongside immunotherapy to mitigate toxicity development from the start. Additionally, Dr Wang sees the potential for fecal transplant to address other organ toxicities induced by immunotherapy, supported by translational data. This expanded use holds promise for improving cancer treatment outcomes and minimizing adverse effects. This interview took place at the American Society of Clinical Oncology (ASCO) 2023 Annual Congress in Chicago, IL.
