Hildur Helgadottir, MD, PhD, Karolinska University Hospital, Stockholm, Sweden, shares insights from a nationwide registry-based study that examined survival outcomes in patients with stage III cutaneous malignant melanoma diagnosed before and after the introduction of adjuvant treatment in mid-2018. The study focused on sentinel node-positive patients and tracked overall survival (OS) in both pre- and post-2018 cohorts. With a median follow-up of three years in the post-cohort, no significant difference in OS was observed between the two groups, suggesting that adjuvant treatment has yet to show a clear survival benefit in these patients. This interview took place at the European Society for Medical Oncology (ESMO) 2024 Congress in Barcelona, Spain.
