GU Cancers 2022 | The impact of COVID-19 on the care of patients with metastatic GU cancers

Axel S. Merseburger, MD, Universitätsklinikum Schleswig-Holstein, Campus Lübeck, Lübeck, Germany, talks on investigating the impact of COVID-19 on the care of patients with metastatic urologic cancers who underwent systemic therapy in Germany. The COVID-19 pandemic impacted follow-up care in 1/3 of cases and 1/5 of systemic treatment. Patients undergoing immunotherapy (IO) and androgen deprivation therapy (ADT) treatment, in particular, were affected. Data supported that the pandemic affected the care of metastasized urologic cancers, however, a longer follow-up is required to measure statistically the prognostic and survival impact. This interview took place at the American Society of Clinical Oncology (ASCO) Genitourinary Cancers Symposium 2022 in San Francisco, CA.
