ESMO Breast 2024 | HER2+ and PIK3DA-mutated breast cancer updates from ESMO Breast 2024
Eva Ciruelos, MD, PhD, Hospital 12 de Octubre, Madrid, Spain, highlights two significant trials from European Society for Medical Oncology (ESMO) Breast 2024 Congress. The DESTINY-Breast02 trial (NCT03523585) confirmed that trastuzumab deruxtecan (T-DXd) offers superior progression-free and overall survival in heavily pretreated HER2+ patients. The IPATunity150 trial (NCT04060862) demonstrated that combining pertuzumab, trastuzumab, and ipatasertib significantly benefits PIK3CA-mutated patients, enhancing clinical benefit rates and progression-free survival. These findings underscore the efficacy of new targeted therapies. This interview took place at the ESMO Breast Cancer Annual Congress in Berlin, Germany.
