ESMO 2024 | Addressing limitations in mRNA profiling for metastatic colorectal cancer

Marco Germani, MD, FRCP, University of Pisa, Pisa, Italy, highlights the challenges associated with mRNA profiling in metastatic colorectal cancer (mCRC), noting its limited consistency across trials and cohorts. Variations in methodologies and the selected panels can lead to discrepancies in results. Using a standardized approach with fewer genes may enhance consistency and reliability in evaluating mRNA profiling, paving the way for more effective biomarkers in clinical practice. This interview took place at the European Society for Medical Oncology (ESMO) 2024 Congress in Barcelona, Spain.
