Alexander Spira, MD, PhD, Virginia Cancer Specialist, Fairfax, VA, comments on the value of cell-free DNA (ctDNA) as a biomarker in pancreatic cancer, highlighting its potential for monitoring patients and predicting response to treatment before undergoing CT scans. Dr Spira notes that while response rates may be lower than in other tumor types, the presence of ctDNA in stable disease patients suggests that tumors are still responding to treatment, and this may ultimately translate to improved progression-free and overall survival outcomes.
