EBCC 2024 | Tumor bed radiation boost or PBI in breast cancer post-oncoplastic surgery

Orit Kaidar-Person, MD, Sheba Medical Center, Ramat Gan, Israel, discusses whether patients with breast cancer who receive oncoplastic surgery should receive tumor bed radiation boost or partial breast irradiation (PBI). Since there are different levels of oncoplastic surgery, identifying the tumor bed is essential to evaluate the feasibility of further radiation. However, if the tumor bed volume cannot be elucidated, then further radiation is not advised. This interview took place at the 14th European Breast Cancer Conference (EBCC) in Milan, Italy.
