EBCC 2024 | Axillary surgery trends in breast cancer after neoadjuvant treatment

Isabel Rubio, MD, PhD, Clinica Universidad de Navarra, Madrid, Spain, discusses the findings of a recent paper on axillary surgery trends for breast cancer after neoadjuvant treatment. Several trials have been investigating the deescalation of breast cancer treatment, as there is increasing response to neoadjuvant systemic treatments and alternative methods for axillary dissection and biopsy. This reduced need for axillary surgery may improve the quality of life for patients with non-inferior oncological outcomes. This interview took place at the 14th European Breast Cancer Conference (EBCC) in Milan, Italy.
