AACR 2022 | Future directions in advanced glioma research

Soma Sengupta, MD, PhD, FRCP, University of Cincinnati, Cincinnati, OH, and Pier Paolo Claudio, MD, PhD, University of Mississippi, Jackson, MS, explain how to improve the treatment of patients with advanced gliomas and discuss future directions in advanced glioma research. The management of patients with advanced gliomas should be guided by assays, and it is vital to understand whether molecules cross the blood-brain barrier and how the pathways of resistance and invasion work. Furthermore, as gliomas originate in the brain or spinal cord tissue, it is critical to understand the role of neurotransmitters and neuroreceptors. This interview took place at the American Association for Cancer Research (AACR) Annual Meeting 2022 in New Orleans, LA.
