ESMO 2018 | How to manage elderly patients on immunotherapy

From the European Society for Medical Oncology (ESMO) 2018 Congress, in Munich, Germany, Matti Aapro, MD, of Genolier Clinic, Genolier, Switzerland, describes the considerations that need to be made in the management of elderly cancer patients on immunotherapy. Dr Aapro discusses the existence of guidelines, defining the criteria for identifying suitable elderly patients fit enough to receive immunotherapy. Dr Aapro believes immunotherapy in the elderly can be extremely beneficial; however, explains the difficulty in controlling toxicities in these patients and the need for careful assessment.
