SABCS 2023 | Impact of pregnancy and post-partum on BC prognosis

Carsten F.J Bakhuis, UMC Utrecht, Utrecht, Netherlands, provides an update of an analysis the prognosis of patients diagnosed with breast cancer during pregnancy (PrBC), within one year postpartum (PPBC) or within one year after an interrupted pregnancy (AABC) in The Netherlands. This updated analysis reviewed pathology reports of invasive breast cancer between January 1st 1988, and July 1st 2022 for any pregnancy-related keywords. 787 patients were included, 60% of which were pregnant during their diagnosis. The study showed that patients diagnosed in the second and third trimesters and within 6 months post-partum had a worse long-term prognosis. This interview took place at the San Antonio Breast Cancer Symposium (SABCS) congress in San Antonio, TX.
