WCLC 2024 | Evaluating the effects of carcinogen exposure during armed conflict

Despite the prevalence of military conflict across the world, their impact on the risk of developing cancer has not been studies. Felipe Roitberg, MD, Brazilian Hospital Services Company (EBSERH), Brasília, Brazil, discusses the implications of exposure to carcinogens during war on people’s health. Various contaminants such as radium, heavy metals and airborne pollutants can increase the risk of cancer and further studies are needed to assess the effects of these agents on clinical outcomes. This interview took place at the 2024 World Conference on Lung Cancer (WCLC) in San Diego, CA.
