Alexander Spira, MD, PhD, Virginia Cancer Specialist, Fairfax, VA, discusses the Phase I/II METalmark study (NCT05488314) of amivantamab, an EGFR-MET bispecific antibody, in combination with capmatinib in patients with advanced non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC). Whilst amivantamab has been used to target EGFR-mutated NSCLC, the addition of MET inhibition addresses MET overexpression and exon 14 skipping mutations, which are key mechanisms of resistance. The study demonstrated promising activity with the drug combination and showed no unexpected adverse events, offering potential for future therapeutic strategies. This interview took place at the 2024 World Conference on Lung Cancer (WCLC) in San Diego, CA.
