ESMO 2024 | JCOG1008: final analysis of weekly versus 3-weekly cisplatin and radiotherapy in SCCHN

Makoto Tahara, MD, PhD, National Cancer Center Hospital East, Kashiwa, Japan, explores the final analysis of the JCOG1008 trial (jRCTs031180135), which compared weekly versus 3-weekly cisplatin plus radiotherapy in post-operative high-risk squamous cell carcinoma of the head and neck (SCCHN). Weekly cisplatin and radiotherapy maintained non-inferiority in overall survival (OS) after 5 years with fewer acute toxicities. Relapse-free survival (RFS) and local relapse-free survival (LRFS) were also improved in the weekly regimen. This interview took place at the European Society for Medical Oncology (ESMO) 2024 Congress in Barcelona, Spain.
