Sofia Rivera, MD, PhD, Institut Gustave Roussy, Villejuif, France, discusses the Phase III HypoG-01 trial (NCT03127995), which assessed the non-inferiority of hypofractionated (HF) radiotherapy (RT) versus normofractionated (NF) radiotherapy for loco-regional early breast cancer. The study evaluated arm lymphedema risk as the primary endpoint, demonstrating non-inferiority of HF radiotherapy. Secondary endpoints, including locoregional relapse-free survival, distant disease-free survival, and overall survival, also favored HF treatment. These findings suggest HF radiotherapy as a safe, effective, and practice-changing option for early breast cancer patients. This interview took place at the European Society for Medical Oncology (ESMO) 2024 Congress in Barcelona, Spain.
