Christian Thorball, PhD, Centre Hospitalier Universitaire Vaudois (CHUV), Lausanne, Switzerland, comments the potential for leveraging polygenic risk scores (PRS) to personalize immune checkpoint inhibitor (ICI) therapy in oncology. With future access to patient genetic data through screening programs, oncologists could calculate PRS to predict a patient’s risk of developing immune-related endocrine toxicities. This approach would allow for the creation of individualized safety profiles, enabling clinicians to tailor treatments and improve safety. This interview took place at the European Society for Medical Oncology (ESMO) 2024 Congress in Barcelona, Spain.
