Julian Kӧtt, MD, University Medical Center Hamburg, Hamburg, Germany, comments on the likelihood of standardizing tissue-base profiling in clinical practice to assess sentinel lymph node (SLN) risk in patients with primary cutaneous melanoma. Prospective studies are necessary to investigate the diagnostic value of protein-based signatures in patients with primary cutaneous melanoma and subsequently, and the effectiveness of therapies for high-risk melanoma.
