Pre-existing autoimmune diseases may induce skin toxicities, but the immunosuppressive management of these complications may provide protective effects in some cases. Further research can focus on the factors that drive skin toxicity and explore how to inhibit the specific pathway without interfering with the immunotherapeutic activity on tumors.
