NCRI 2016 | Correlation between alcohol pricing and consumption levels

Tim Stockwell, PhD of University of Victoria, British Columbia, Canada discusses implementation of alcohol pricing policy and its effect on alcohol consumption levels. Supermarkets and off-licence shops are not allowed to sell alcohol under a certain price, steering people away from the highest drank beverages and reducing overconsumption. Dr Stockwell compares the situation in Canada, where the government has a monopoly on the alcohol distribution and price setting, to Scotland, where checks on compliance and publicly displayed price lists may be required. Recorded at the 2016 National Cancer Research Institute (NCRI) Conference in Liverpool, UK.
