WCLC 2024 | CALGB 140503: high grade AEs impact survival after lung resection surgery

Daniel Miller, MD, Medical College of Georgia, Augusta, GA, explores findings from the Phase III CALGB/Alliance 140503 (NCT00499330) trial, focusing on the impact of high-grade adverse events (AEs) on survival in patients with early-stage NSCLC undergoing sublobar (SLR) or lobar resection (LR). The study reveals that while SLR and LR had comparable overall survival (OS), high-grade AEs significantly decreased disease-free survival (DFS) and recurrence-free survival (RFS). The analysis highlights the critical need to prevent high-grade AEs post-surgery to enhance cancer-specific survival outcomes. This interview took place at the 2024 World Conference on Lung Cancer (WCLC) in San Diego, CA.
