ASCO 2025 | Evaluating CDK4/6 and cyclin D1 as biomarkers in GEA treatment

Ronan Joseph Kelly, MD, Charles A. Sammons Cancer Center at Baylor University Medical Center, Dallas, TX, comments on a Phase I/II study (NCT04921904) of abemaciclib and ramucirumab in pretreated metastatic gastroesophageal adenocarcinoma (GEA). The regimen was generally well tolerated and showed modest clinical activity in the second- and third-line settings. Patients with CDK4/6 or cyclin D1 pathway alterations appeared to derive greater benefit, suggesting a potential biomarker for treatment selection. This interview took place during the 2025 American Society of Clinical Oncology (ASCO) Meeting in Chicago, IL.
