SABCS 2025 | Clinical challenges in managing CNS metastases in HER2+ breast cancer
Rupert Bartsch, MD, Medical University of Vienna, Vienna, Austria, comments on the importance of systemic treatment options for brain metastases in HER2-positive breast cancer, highlighting the potential of small molecule tyrosine kinase inhibitors, such as tucatinib, and antibody-drug conjugates (ADCs), including trastuzumab deruxtecan, which have shown significant activity in brain metastasis. Further treatment options are necessary after the exhaustion of currently available ones and the prevention of brain metastasis is currently an unmet need. This interview took place at the San Antonio Breast Cancer Symposium (SABCS) 2025 Meeting in San Antonio, TX.
