ASCO 2026 | Results from the PREPEC trial support pre-pectoral positioning for IBBR following mastectomy

Walter Weber, MD, University Hospital Basel, Basel, Switzerland, discusses data from the PREPEC (OPBC-02) trial (NCT04293146) showing pre-pectoral implant-based breast reconstruction (IBBR) following mastectomy improves quality of life compared with sub-pectoral IBBR but is associated with an increased risk of surgical complications. This data supports the current global trend towards pre-pectoral positioning in IBBR. This interview took place during the 2026 American Society of Clinical Oncology (ASCO) Meeting in Chicago, IL.
