Walter Weber, MD, Basel University Hospital, Basel, Switzerland, gives an overview of the current indications for axillary dissection in patients with breast cancer. Axillary dissection is still standard in clinically node-negative patients with multiple positive sentinel nodes and in clinically node-positive patients undergoing upfront surgery, as well as in the neoadjuvant setting for patients with low-volume residual disease. This interview took place at the 2025 St. Gallen International Breast Cancer Consensus Meeting in Vienna, Austria.
