BTOG 2025 | Streamlining molecular profiling with ctDNA NGS for faster lung cancer treatment

Sanjay Popat, BSc, MBBS, FRCP, PhD, The Royal Marsden NHS Foundation Trust, London, UK, comments on the challenges of implementing molecular profiling in routine clinical care, highlighting the need to improve the pathway from tissue samples to publication of genomics reports, which currently takes several weeks and can delay treatment. He notes that the introduction of ctDNA NGS, with pilot data showing cost-effectiveness and faster treatment initiation, but emphasizes the need to upskill staff and optimize the clinical workflow to integrate ctDNA into routine practice. This interview took place at the BTOG 2025 congress in Belfast, UK.
