Jana de Boniface, MD, PhD, Karolinska Institutet, Stockholm, Sweden, explores clinical implications from the SENOMAC trial (NCT02240472) examining the omission of completion axillary dissection in patients with breast cancer and sentinel lymph node macrometastases. Results confirmed that axillary dissection is not always needed as a therapeutic treatment and a further study is being carried out to evaluate the omission of axillary dissection in clinically node-positive patients as well. This interview took place during the 2026 American Society of Clinical Oncology (ASCO) Meeting in Chicago, IL.
