BCC 2021 | Prescribing practices of endocrine therapy for premenopausal breast cancer patients in Mexico

Cynthia Villarreal-Garza, MD, DSc, Mexican National Cancer Institute & Tecnologico de Monterrey, Mexico, describes the prescribing practices of endocrine therapy for premenopausal breast cancer patients in Mexico. This study compared endocrine therapy prescribed to premenopausal breast cancer patients with current guidelines and evaluated factors hindering the use of optimal treatment in a real-world clinical setting. The gold standard was prescribed in 62% of cases with the remaining 38% not recieving ovarian function suppression, Dr Villarreal-Garza highlights the importance of improving coverage of GnRH agonists in order to improve patient outcomes. This interview took place during the 17th St. Gallen International Breast Cancer Conference.
