NCRI 2018 | E-cigarettes safer than continuous smoking: real-world evidence

Effective alternative strategies to limit cigarette smoking are discussed in this video using an evidence-based approach to assess the risks associated with the various strategies. Lion Shahab, MSc, PhD, CPsychol, AFBPsS, PGCLTHE, from University College London, London, UK, discusses the effectiveness of combining bevavioural therapy and nicotine replacement therapy in smoking cessation, before sharing evidence from a human study to suggest the increased safety of electronic cigarettes compared to continuous cigarette smoking, contradicting the results from previous studies. Dr Shahab, however, firmly believes the conclusions from this study are a better representation of real world practice. This video was recorded at the 2018 National Cancer Research Institute (NCRI) Cancer Conference, held in Glasgow, UK.
