Hazel O’Sullivan, MBBS, The Royal Marsden NHS Foundation Trust, London, UK, discusses whether PCR or next-generation sequencing (NGS) should be used to genotype EGFR in non-small cell lugn cancer (NSCLC) Due to a faster turnaround time, PCR is often used over next-generation sequencing to genotype EGFR per standard of care (SOC). However, previous reports have indicated 50% of EGFR exon 20 insertions and 30% of other uncommon EGFR mutations are missed with commonly used PCR assays.This interview took place at the IASLC 2022 World Conference on Lung Cancer congress in Vienna, Austria.
